History

Kina aperitif and dashes of absinthe add essential bitterness to balance this gin-based apricot aperitif.

The Self-starter cocktail made its initial appearance in print within Harry Craddock's 1930 volume, The Savoy Cocktail Book. "SELF-STARTER COCKTAIL. 1/8 Apricot Brandy. 3/8 Kina Lillet. ½ Dry Gin. 2 Dashes Absinthe. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass."
