Ingredients

2 oz Gin
3/4 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
4 dash Aromatic bitters
3/4 oz Soda water

How to make

Serve in a collins glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COLLINS GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lime slice wheel.

Method

  1. 3 POUR first 4 ingredients into chilled glass.
  2. 4 Two-thirds fill glass with crushed ice and SWIZZLE.
  3. 5 Fill glass with more crushed ice and briefly CHURN.
  4. 6 TOP with soda.

Garnish

  1. 7 Garnish with lime wheel.
  2. 8 Serve with a straw.

History

A Gin Collins made with lime juice, swizzled with crushed ice for summer drinking.

This recipe is adapted from the Mr. Boston De Luxe Official Bartender's Guide. RED SWIZZLE Prepare this drink in the same manner as the Gin Swizzle, detailed on page 43, with the addition of one teaspoon of grenadine. The gin component can be exchanged for rum, brandy, or whiskey if preferred. RED SWIZZLE [from page 43] In a 12 oz. Tom Collins glass, combine: Juice of 1 Lime 1 Teaspoon Powdered sugar 2 oz. Carbonated Water Fill the glass with shaved ice and stir vigorously using a swizzle stick. Subsequently, add: 2 Dashes Bitters 2 oz. Old Mr. Boston Dry Gin Top with carbonated water and present with the swizzle stick in the glass, enabling the patron to perform the final stir.
