History
A Scotch and soda with a delicate hint of ginger spice. Should be made using Scotch whisky rather than bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey.
This is a traditional British style of Highball that uses blended Scotch whisky. The name Presbyterian may originate from presbýteros (πρεσβύτερος), the Greek term for 'elder,' which is notably used 72 times in the New Testament. However, the modern Presbyterian Church, after which this cocktail is named, primarily originated in Scotland. Indeed, Presbyterian Church governance is established in the 1707 Acts of Union, which led to the creation of the kingdom of Great Britain.
