History

This drink's sweet-sour balance and degree of pink hue is relative to how generous the pour of grenadine is. (When made with homemade fresh pomegranate syrup in place of grenadine, and the perfect balance is hit, this drink is delicious but sadly lacks the eponymous pink hue, resulting in a more golden-amber colour.)

This is the signature drink at the Polo Lounge, situated within the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, USA. The hotel itself, affectionately known as the Pink Palace, is said to have inspired The Eagles' "Hotel California" and is featured on its album cover.
