1 1/3 oz Peated malt whisky
1 1/3 oz Amaro (e.g. Montenegro)

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Peated whisky replaces mezcal in this variation on the bartenders' favourite M&M.

Asher Günther is the creator of this drink. On Christmas Day 2022, he commented, "I've tried this drink a few times and very much enjoyed it. Tonight I thought I'd try subbing the mezcal for the other smokey bottle in my cabinet - an Islay single malt. Oh man. Someone needs to give this a name and get it on a menu ASAP." The drink has been tentatively named "Peaty Monte," though a better name may emerge.
