History

A "Rum Sidecar" that is a tad sour unless sipped through a sugared rim. A better drink is achieved by forgoing the rim and adding 2.5ml (half a barspoon) sugar syrup (2:1) for proper balance.

This drink, a variation of a recipe originally developed by Jeff "Beachbum" Berry and featured in his 2010 book Beachbum Berry Remixed: A Gallery of Tiki Drinks, was initially made with gold Bajan rum. OUTRIGGER ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice ¾ ounce triple sec 1 ½ ounces gold Barbados rum Sugar To prepare, rub the rim of a chilled cocktail glass with a lemon wedge and then coat the rim with sugar. After combining the rum, lemon juice, and triple sec with ice cubes, shake well. Strain the mixture into the sugar-rimmed glass, which is depicted as a modern, angular flute.
