Ingredients

1 oz Blanco tequila
1 oz Amaro (e.g. Lucano)
1 oz Vermouth amaro (Car.)
1 dash Creole bitters

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS flamed orange zest twist over cocktail, then use as garnish.

History

When first trying this bittersweet tequila-laced cocktail, the addition of Peychaud's bitters instead of orange bitters provided an extra layer of anis freshness. Both styles of bitters work well, but the orange oils from the garnish are crucial.
