History

If Sidecars are preferred, then this variation with delicate quinine bitterness may appeal.

Harry Craddock featured three cocktails—The Frank Sullivan, Hoop La!, and Odd McIntyre—in his 1930 publication, The Savoy Cocktail Book, presenting an identical recipe for each. Following this, in 1934, R. de Fleury's book, 1700 Cocktails for the Man Behind the Bar, similarly employed the same recipe across these three cocktail titles. The identical formula, however, surfaced as "Hey Hey" in the 1933 book Hollywood Cocktails and, subsequently, in William T. Boothby's World Drinks And How To Mix Them the following year. FRANK SULLIVAN COCKTAIL. ¼ Glass Lemon Juice. ¼ Glass Kina Lillet. ¼ Glass Cointreau. ¼ Glass Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. HOOP LA! COCKTAIL ¼ Lemon Juice. ¼ Kina Lillet. ¼ Cointreau. ¼ Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. ODD McINTYRE ¼ Glass Lemon Juice. ¼ Glass Kina Lillet. ¼ Glass Cointreau. ¼ Glass Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
