History
This Gnome cocktail is dry and interesting.
The Nome cocktail is a variation on the Alaska. It is mentioned in the entry for the Alaska cocktail in David Embury's 1948 book, The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks. Like the Alaska, the Nome is believed to be named for its golden color, referencing the gold rush. The Alaska Gold Rush began in the Klondike region of Canada's Yukon territory, but many prospectors moved to an area around Nome in western Alaska after gold was discovered there in 1899.
