1 1/3 oz Oude genever
2/3 oz Kirschwasser
1/12 oz Brown sugar syrup
2 dash Creole bitters

How to make

Serve in a nick & nora glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a NICK & NORA GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

A delicately flavoured and lightly balanced genever drink with hints of kirsch and aromatic Creole bitters.

Jim Meehan created this cocktail in 2006 at PDT in New York City, USA. It is included in The PDT Cocktail Book, published in 2011. NEW AMSTERDAM 2 oz. Bols Genever 1 oz. Clear Creek Kirschwasser 1 barspoon Demerara Syrup 2 dashes Peychaud's Bitters Stir with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with a Lemon twist Dutch traders first settled Manhattan, giving the island and its surroundings the name New Amsterdam.
