History
Liquorice and subtle aniseed from anisette emerge through the vermouth's herbal notes.
The Montana Cocktail is adapted from a recipe found in Charles S. Mahoney's 1905 publication, The Hoffman House Bartender's Guide. The instructions specify using a large bar glass filled three-quarters full with shaved ice. To this, two dashes of Anisette and two dashes of bitters are added, followed by one-half wine-glass of French Vermouth. The mixture should be stirred with a spoon, then strained into a cocktail glass. Finally, a piece of lemon peel is squeezed over the top before serving.
