History

An olive brine-enriched Margarita.

This drink is adapted from one served at the Cedar Door Patio Bar and Grill in Austin, Texas, USA, since the early 1980s. The inspiration came when a bartender named Ellen was served a Margarita while on vacation in Matamoros, Mexico. Ellen brought the concept back to the Cedar Door's owners, Gus and Diane Koerner, and their long-serving bartender, Jim LeMond, developed the recipe, adding it to the menu as the bar's signature cocktail.
