History
Bitter grapefruit oils replace quinine bitterness in the original 1930s aromatised wine and tequila aperitivo.
This is adapted from Jamie Boudreau's variation on the classic Metexa, which first appeared in William James "Billy" Tarling's 1937 book, Café Royal Bar Book. The original recipe is quoted as: METEXA Invented by J. E. Mouncer 1/4 Tequila. 1/4 Swedish Punch. 1/2 Lillet. Shake.
