History
Citrus depth is added by undertones of orange to the lemon explosion.
This cocktail is adapted from a recipe created by Dick Bradsell at Fred's bar in London in the late 1980s. His original recipe used 1½ shots citrus vodka, ¼ shot triple sec, 1 shot lemon juice, ¼ shot sugar syrup, and 3 dashes orange bitters, served short and straight-up without grenadine. In July 2013, grenadine was added, and the Leninade was made into a long cocktail, following comments from Discerning Drinkers who suggested the name implied a long, red, vodka-based drink.
