History
Shaking provides extra dilution and aeration for an easy-drinking, crowd-pleasing cocktail. Stirring produces a more aromatic, floral Dry Martini. Go easy with the lime zest oils - this delicate cocktail is easily overpowered.
The name Left Bank might suggest the inclusion of wine, as the term commonly refers to the region south of the Gironde Estuary in Bordeaux, including Médoc with St-Julien and Margaux. However, in this instance, the name refers to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a district situated on the left bank (south) of the River Seine in Paris. In 2013, the quantity of elderflower liqueur was reduced from ¾ shot to ½ shot, and the vermouth from ½ to a ¼ shot. Martini cocktail and its evolution
