A sour highlighting the fine pairing of cognac and sloe gin.
This cocktail is named after the 1941 musical comedy film of the same name, which starred Mary Martin, Don Ameche, and Oscar Levant, and was released in August 1941. It is likely that this cocktail was created shortly after the film's debut and appears in the 1949 book Esquire's Handbook for Hosts.
