3/4 oz Calvados apple brandy
2/3 oz Rosso/sweet vermouth

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare thin apple slice (ideally dehydrated) for garnish.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.

  1. 5 Float (dehydrated) apple slice for garnish.

History

The amount of vermouth in this spirit-forward calvados cocktail could be a 'dash' or a 'splash'. Best served over a large ice cube.

Harry Craddock's 1930 publication, The Savoy Cocktail Book, includes a version of this drink. The KICKER COCKTAIL is prepared with the following ingredients: 2 Dashes Italian Vermouth. 1/3 Calvados. 2/3 Bacardi Rum. It is shaken well and then strained into a cocktail glass.
