History

Given its name, this cocktail was originally conceived using Islay peated malt whisky. However, as the BBC might report, "other peated whiskies are available." Careful selection will result in a delicious Old Fashioned.

In late 2014, Eliot Cole emailed about a favorite drink: "one of my favourite drinks ever was an Old Fashioned made with Laphroaig (possibly quarter cask)... it was made at Hotel Delmano in Williamsburg, Brooklyn". Inspired by Eliot's mention and recalling David Embury's preference for Peychaud's bitters with whisk(e)y, this Old Fashioned was created.
