History
A Manhattan variation made special by ferro china's distinctive notes.
Iron House was a term commonly used in the early 1800s for steam locomotives, a comparison understandable when contrasting the new railways with the comparatively primitive horse-powered tramways of the time. Numerous songs are titled Iron Horse, including a 1970s hit by the band Christie, a 1960s TV theme song by Dominic Frontiere, and most notably, the Motörhead song "Iron Horse / Born to Lose." In this cocktail, "Iron" refers to the iron ammonium citrate, which gives ferro china amaro its distinctive flavor.
