History
A Swedish take on the Irish Coffee.
Bosse Bergström, a Swedish bartender, created this in 1987 for a coffee drink competition in Stockholm. After the competition, his drink gained popularity throughout Sweden and internationally. In the late 1990s, packaging for Galliano bottles sold in a London shop included a Hot Shot glass and spoon for layering ingredients. Guests at Swedish parties would often chant "hot shot, hot shot, hot shot!" The Hot Shot remains popular in Sweden, to the extent that it has its own 'national day' on the third Friday of November.
