1 oz Light gold rum 1-3yo
1 oz Cognac (brandy)
1/2 oz Fino sherry
1/4 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
1 oz Lime juice
Top up with Boiling water

Serve in a toddy glass

History

This is a perfect drink for cold weather.

Punch was a prevalent rum-based beverage in the 18th century. Taverns would serve it cold, warming it on demand by immersing a red-hot iron. This particular iteration is reputed to have been a favorite of the composer Mozart.
