History

Reminiscent of a tart Sidecar, but with added depth.

In both Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book and R. de Fleury's 1934 book 1700 Cocktails for the Man Behind the Bar, The Frank Sullivan, Hoop La! and Odd McIntyre are different names for the same recipe. Exactly the same recipe also appears in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book and R. de Fleury's 1934 book 1700 Cocktails for the Man Behind the Bar, but named "Hey Hey". However, I've given each of these cocktails its own recipe; this one borrowed from Michael and Zara Madrusan's 2025 The Madrusan Cocktail Companion. FRANK SULLIVAN COCKTAIL. ¼ Glass Lemon Juice. ¼ Glass Kina Lillet. ¼ Glass Cointreau. ¼ Glass Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. HOOP LA! COCKTAIL ¼ Lemon Juice. ¼ Kina Lillet. ¼ Cointreau. ¼ Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. ODD McINTYRE ¼ Glass Lemon Juice. ¼ Glass Kina Lillet. ¼ Glass Cointreau. ¼ Glass Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
