History

The classic mix of gin and red quinquina, enhanced by chocolate and dashes of bitters.

This recipe is adapted from the 1937 book How to Properly Mix Drinks, published by London Pipe Shops. The drink may be named for the 1932 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film Hell Divers, which featured Wallace Beery and Clark Gable as rival Naval pilots.
