History
Bittersweet and spirit-forward with toffee apple-like notes. Shaking this cocktail is preferred.
This cocktail was created in 2013 by Mike Fleming at West Bridge restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is named for Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler, who lived from 1914 to 2000. The Austrian and American actress and inventor used the stage name Hedy Lamarr. Her film Samson and Delilah, released in 1949, was her most successful. Significantly, near the start of World War II, she and George Antheil invented a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes designed to overcome radio jamming.
