History

This cocktail, originating in the 1970s, is a vodka-based counterpart to the more widely recognized Scotch whisky-based Godfather. All three of these drinks, including the similar brandy-based French Connection, are listed in Brian F. Rea's 1976 publication, Brian's Booze Guide.
