History
A precursor to the modern Gimlet, this is a dry, spirit-forward Gin Sour.
This cocktail is adapted from a recipe that first appeared in Tom Bullock's 1917 book, The Ideal Bartender. The "GILLETTE COCKTAIL – Chicago Style" is prepared in a large mixing glass filled with lump ice. It requires the juice of half a lime, 1½ jiggers of Burnette's Old Ton Gin, and ½ teaspoon of bar sugar. The ingredients should be stirred well and then strained into a cocktail glass.
