History

Spirit-forward and bittersweet. A drink for certain moods. If Ryan's original recipe, which uses a high-strength rye, proves too spirituous/bitter, try serving on-the-rocks for dilution. Alternatively, a split-whiskey base rendition with saline solution replacing orange bitters can be made: 37.5 Rye whiskey (bottled in bond) 22.5 Bourbon 15 Red bitter liqueur 7.5 White crème de cacao 3 drops Saline solution

Ryan Fitzgerald created this drink in 2010 at Beretta, a bar in San Francisco. It later became a well-liked cocktail at his own establishment, ABV, also in San Francisco, USA.
