Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Light white rum
2/3 oz Gin
1/6 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
1/6 oz Grenadine syrup
2 dash Aromatic bitters
2 dash Creole bitters
1/2 oz Chilled water

How to make

Serve in a martini glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

This recipe is from the 1949 edition of Esquire's Handbook for Hosts. It is credited to an unnamed Captain in the US Marines, Amphibious Group Seven, who was serving in Santiago de Cuba in 1942.
