History

A riff on Sam Ross' Paper Plane, influenced by maraschino and bittersweet notes.

Joseph "Joe" Brophy created this cocktail in August 2025 at Le Verre à Monique in Geneva, Switzerland. It began with a customer's request for a Paper Plane, but with Braulio instead of Amaro Nonino. Brophy, not a fan of the original, was surprised to enjoy this variation. The customer, Roberto, returned the following week, requesting the same drink. This led to the realization of the mistaken ingredient, but as both had enjoyed the drink, they decided to name it. "El Avioncito" was chosen as a nod to Roberto's Chilean heritage and his willingness to practice Spanish with Brophy.
