History

Reminiscent of a Manhattan with fernet and elderflower liqueur.

This recipe is adapted from one created in Spring 2009 by Jim Meehan at PDT in Manhattan, New York City. Meehan was inspired by Jamie Boudreau's Copper's Cocktail, which featured rye whiskey, elderflower liqueur, and fernet. However, Meehan found the elderflower and fernet too dominant, so he adjusted the proportions to create a more Brooklyn-style drink using Dubonnet Red. The name DuBoudreau, meaning "of the Boudreau" in French, is fitting.
