2 oz Poteen/Poitín
1/2 oz Lime juice
1/3 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
3 oz Ginger beer

How to make

Serve in a copper mug or collins glass

  1. 1 POUR first 3 ingredients into copper mug/glass and stir
  2. 2 Two-thirds fill vessel with cubed ice
  3. 3 TOP with ginger beer and crown with crushed ice.

Poteen adds an appealing, almost oily, new leather flavour to a Moscow Mule.

Stephen Curtin created this drink in 2023 and shared it via a comment on our Moscow Mule page. He suggested, "Might I suggest an Irish Poteen variation... The Donegal Donkey. Donegal not just for the alliteration, but because Donegal was once famous for the quality of its Poteen."
