Ingredients

2 oz Light gold rum 1-3yo
1/2 oz Lime juice
1/6 oz Maraschino liqueur
1/4 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
1/6 oz Chilled water
2 drop Saline solution 4:1

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lime wedge.

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

  1. 5 Garnish with lime wedge on rim.

History

Maraschino liqueur adds subtle complexity to this well-balanced Daiquiri.

Constantino "Constante" Ribalaïgua Vert, who was the bartender at Havana's renowned El Floridita (initially Bar Florida) from approximately 1914 until his passing in 1952, is the creator of this drink. He acquired the establishment in 1918. This is the fourth in a series of four numbered daiquiris featured on the 1934, 1st edition Bar La Florida Cocktails menu from his bar. Daiquiri Num. 4 2 Ounces Bacardí Rum. 1 Teaspoonful Sugar. 1 Teaspoonful Maraschino. Juice of half a Lemon. Shake in an electric shaker with crushed ice. Serve frappe.
