History
The Edison or The Edisonian variation involves stirring all ingredients, including brandy, with ice. It is a bitter drink, though it lacks theatricality. Choose showmanship or discernment. This bittersweet cocktail suits the aperitivo moment.
Adapted from a recipe by Robert "Brother Cleve" Toomey, a regarded bartender, DJ and musician. Brother Cleve was a member of the band Combustible Edison and this cocktail was created in the 1990s by Michael "The Millionaire" Cudahy, the band's leader. The drink appeared on the back cover of the band's first CD, I, Swinger.
