Ingredients

1 oz Ambrato vermouth
2/3 oz Amaro (e.g. Montenegro)
2/3 oz Rye whiskey 50% abv
1/2 oz White crème de menthe

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass (preferably over a large cube or chunk of block ice).

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

A cleansing, delicately minty, bittersweet and complex after-dinner digestivo.

Andrea Gualdi created the original recipe at Maybe Sammy in Sydney, Australia. Gualdi's recipe calls for Tempus Fugit crème de menthe, and he infuses the Amaro Montenegro with spices, which adds complexity to the drink. This adaptation follows Gualdi's original concept.
