History

Joe Gilmore made this with lime juice, but lemon juice is preferred. The proportions of other ingredients have been adjusted to suit personal tastes.

Joe Gilmore created this cocktail, named after the former Prime Minister, during his long tenure as bartender at The Savoy Hotel's American Bar, which ran from 1940 to 1976. The American Bar is London's oldest surviving cocktail bar.
