History

This cocktail is an agave spirit-based variation of Harry MacElhone's 1922 Cameron's Kick. The addition of a couple of drops of saline solution was attempted, but it detracted from the drink's pleasing steely edge.

Adapted from a recipe created in 2010 by Anthony Schmidt at Noble Experiment in San Diego, California. For this recipe, considerable influence was drawn from Satan's Whiskers' proportions. An additional quarter barspoon of crème de menthe, introduced to Schmidt's recipe by Justin Lane Briggs at Faro in Bushwick, Brooklyn, in 2015, has also been included (Briggs' version used two whole bar spoons).
