Ingredients

2 inch Cucumber (fresh)
1 1/2 oz Bourbon whiskey
3/4 oz Orange-red aperitivo
1/6 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
1 dash Aromatic bitters
1 dash Orange bitters

How to make

Serve in a martini glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of skewered cucumber roll.

Method

  1. 3 MUDDLE cucumber in base of shaker. (Ideally, cut skin from the cucumber log before chopping).
  2. 4 Add other ingredients and SHAKE with ice.
  3. 5 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 6 Garnish with skewered cucumber roll.

Bourbon and cucumber combine with a whisper of bittersweet orange.

This drink was created in 2008 by Hayden Lambert at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is named after the bluegrass found in Bourbon County, a region known for breeding top horses.
