Ingredients

1 oz Gin
1 oz Blue curaçao liqueur
1/2 oz Aromatized wine
1/2 oz Orange juice

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

This recipe comes from W. J. Tarling's 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book (Coronation Edition). The book states the drink was "Invented by A. A. Tarling". Arthur Tarling, the head bartender at London's Café Royal, was the elder brother of W. J. "Billy" Tarling, who authored the book. BLUE STAR 1/3 Gin. 1/3 Blue Curaçao 1/6 Lillet. 1/6 Orange Juice. Shake.
