History

A bright blue mix of lemon, orange, and peach, with gin.

This cocktail is adapted from a drink created in 1999 by Dick Bradsell for an Agent Provocateur swimwear launch. The bikini swimsuit, invented by designer Louis Réard in July 1946, was named after Bikini Atoll. The first public test of a nuclear bomb occurred there four days prior to the swimsuit's unveiling. At the time, exposing the navel and buttocks was considered so shocking that no model would wear it. Consequently, Réard hired Micheline Bernardini, a nude dancer from the Casino de Paris, to model the two-piece swimsuit. This history is related to the evolution of the Martini cocktail.
