History
Similar to a Veneziano Spritz but with equal wine and Italian red bitter liqueur proportions. Distinguished from the spritz by serving it with less volume in a tall slim highball glass, rather than larger spritz glassware. More appropriate for the ride home.
Bicicletta, which is Italian for "bicycle," is another name for the Veneziano Spritz. It serves as an example of the regional naming variations for essentially the same drink throughout Italy. Legend has it that the name originated from elderly men cycling home unsteadily after enjoying Biciclettas with friends.
