History

A cold Irish Coffee variation using poitín, imparting dark chocolate notes to the coffee and demerara sugar.

This recipe was adapted circa 2017 by Lukas Etus and Dave Mulligan at Ladies & Gents bar in Kentish Town, London. Dave Mulligan's use of his Bán Poitín influenced the recipe, and he later founded Bar 1661 in Dublin, popularising this cocktail. The Belfast Coffee is now available in bars across Ireland and in the USA.
