History

Tequila, vanilla and orange, finished with rich cream.

Al Domanski created this drink in the 1970s in Traverse City, Michigan. It was published in a pamphlet printed by Liquore Galliano in Italy. The original recipe specifies Galliano, and it is suspected that Al used Galliano Vanilla rather than Galliano L'Authentico. The Apollo 8 mission, which began on 21st December 1968 and concluded six days later on the 27th, marked a significant milestone as the first crewed spacecraft to depart Earth's gravitational pull and the first human spaceflight to reach the Moon. The three astronauts aboard, Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and William Anders, completed ten orbits of the Moon before returning to Earth. They were the first humans to witness and photograph the far side of the Moon and experience an Earthrise.
