History
Zesty lemon, bitter liqueur, and tangy IPA create a zippy, refreshing drink. Characterful IPA and precise honey are key.
Originally prepared with Bacardi Carta Blanca, this was the winning cocktail in the Belarus Bacardí Legacy 2016 competition, created by Lizaveta Molyavka at News Café in Minsk. The creator asked what cocktail ingredients, related to the Bacardi family, had not yet been used. Research revealed the history of Bacardi's beer, 'Hatuey.' In the early Twentieth Century in Cuba, Bacardi provided customers with ice from North American lakes, a block of ice, and a six-pack of Hatuey beer, then Cuba's top-selling beer. This cocktail honors that history by combining the first Cuban rum with the citrus, grapefruit peel, and bitter notes of an IPA-style beer, balanced with bitter liqueur, honey syrup, and lemon for an easy and tasty drink.
