History

Despite appearances, this cocktail is classically shaken for added invigoration and dilution.

The Angelo Azzurro, whose name translates from Italian to "blue angel," was first conceived in 1980. Its creator, Giovanni "Mammina" Pepè, developed the drink in Rome, Italy, with a base of gin, triple sec, and blue curaçao. Four decades after its inception, the cocktail received a modification at Gaetano's Ristorante in Henderson, Nevada, USA. Nick Palmeri introduced Bitter Bianco to the mix, aiming to balance the original flavors.
