History

Boozy yet this aperitivo/digestivo is relatively light in alcohol.

Named for the official Danish royal residence, this cocktail originates from Axel Sørensen's "Lommebogen," a black bar notebook with ISBN 978-87-995886-0-2. Sørensen was a bartender at Café de la Reine in Copenhagen during the late 1930s. His granddaughter inherited the notebook, and Henrik Steen Petersen of the former "Moltkes Bar" in Copenhagen later borrowed, photographed, and published it. The recipe is presented as: "Amalienborg. 1½ oz Dubonnet. ¾ Dolin Dry Vermouth. ½ Tanqueray Gin. Alle ingredienser stirres med is, og strainesi et afkolet Martini glass."
